When in Athens, take the Metro

When the metro system was built in the 1990s, Athens encountered a massive problem because the construction works will destroy its history buried underneath. The solution was to combine the building of the metro with the archaeological work thus making them a slow and expensive affair. Artifacts that were discovered are now on display in the metro stations; making them mini museums.
