A Spring Inspired Table

Hello friends.  I think spring is finally here and after what seemed like a never ending winter, I am ready to put on my gardening gloves and work in rich soil, plant new rosebushes and herbs.   These days, I am content with planting, enjoying my garden and reading a book in my favorite corner of the house. 

 

I long for quiet leisurely days surrounded by pretty things and those that mean the most to me.  And the garden is now our favorite place to be.  With spring flowers and flowering shrubs suddenly waking from their long wintry rest,  it all adds to the peaceful fell of a welcoming home.  The effect is simply delightful and inspiring.

 

And what a better way to celebrate the season than with a garden inspired lunch that awakens the soul.  Tulips and roses are the main characters here followed by exquisite cutwork Irish linen and vintage china from Spode Copeland in the Billingsley Rose pattern circa 1930.  Glassware was purchased in Homegoods a few months ago.

 A Little Fact About the Vintage China Pattern Above:

Jewel Shape

The Jewel shape design originates from the 1850s when a sumptuous dessert service was made - possibly to the order of Queen Victoria - to the design of W. H. Goss, the Art Director at Spode. In this original service, each of the embossed rings on the border was fitted with a mirror-backed glass gem simulating rubies, emeralds and topaz. The service was for presentation in 1857.  Billingsley Rose pattern was the most popular design on Jewel shape.
