Sorry Canon, Indy Filmmakers Are Going With Another HDSLR

If The Revenge of the Zacuto Shootout proved one thing, it was how powerful a hacked $500 GH2 could be. Toe-to-toe against the Alexa, EPIC and others, the little camera that could not only stood up to the heavy weights, it was even preferred by some, including one of the greatest filmmakers of all time: Francis Ford Coppola. It's also worth noting Canon's DSLRs looked terrible by comparison. Shane Carruth -- the filmmaker responsible for the wildly impressive, no-budget time-travel thriller Primer -- had his latest film Upstream Color screen to raves at this year's Sundance. Guess what camera UC was shot with? Take a wild guess. For HDSLR users considering their next purchase, you should stop thinking Canon and start investing the thousands you'll save in great glass when you buy a Panasonic GH2 or GH3.  Watch Shane's trailer and take a look at the possibilities $500 can buy:
